Discovery trails on the plateau of Buddusò from a hotel in the hills with a panoramic view

La Madonnina is a panoramic hotel located about 750 metres above sea level, on the Buddusò plateau. From the hotel's rooms in the hills, it is possible to dominate the valley that opens up towards the municipality of Alà dei Sardi and its mountains, cork oaks and holm-oak woods. Thanks to its location, the hotel offers not just an extraordinary setting for a holiday in Sardinia a few kilometres from Olbia and Sassari, but also a handy position close to the main tourist attractions, such as the Nuraghi, the Tombe dei Giganti, the Domus De Janas and the pre-nuragic villages.

A journey through prehistory to discover the Nuraghi

The territory surrounding the town of Buddusò shows signs of human settlements dating back to prehistoric times. This is the case of the remains of pre-Nuragic villages, unique testimonies of the Sardinian Neolithic period, the Nuraghi and the Tombs of the Giants, the great stone monuments that have survived from the Nuragic civilisation. The Buddusò area also has over 50 Domus De Janas that can be visited, some of which can be reached in just five minutes from the La Madonnina hill hotel. The remains of Caput Tyrsi at the Tirso springs, a few kilometres from the hotel, date back to the Roman period.

A village of granite

Buddusò is a characteristic village surrounded by cork oaks and world-famous for its granite. The architecture of the village is distinguished by its granite towers, alternating with four- or five-storey buildings with neoclassical paintwork and original decorations from the early 20th century. The streets of the town are characterised by squares and gardens decorated with granite sculptures and murals. Among the town's main attractions are the Santa Reparata Church, the International Museum of the Knife in Pattada and, just a few kilometres away, the beautiful Budoni beach.
